
Lucas has been manufacturing ingredients for butchers for over
75 years. Throughout that time we have lead the way with many
innovative developments that have helped to shape our industry.
We're busy gathering some interesting materials from the archives
to make this journey down memory lane entertaining for anyone
with an interest in the butchery business. In the mean time
here are just a few of our landmark achievements over the years...
The
company was founded by Thomas Edward Lucas in Bristol in 1926
and was the first to manufacture yeastless rusk - a purpose
designed cereal binder for butchers who had previously used
returned stale bread for their sausages.
