Rob Rattray of Rob Rattray Butchers in Aberystwyth, winner of the award for Home Cured Bacon said Ive been using Lucas Easicure Sweet for curing bacon for the last few years. I won the South Wales competition last year as well, using the same product. Its always reliable and works for me!
The Category winner of the Home Cured Gammon award, Clinton Roberts of Ponty Butchers in Pontardawe was equally complimentary We entered the maximum 28 products into the competition and achieved 18 Gold awards and 10 Silver, all using Lucas Seasonings and Mixes. We had seven sausages, each of which received a Gold award: Traditional Pork, Pork & Caramelised Red Onion, Beef & Caramelised Red Onion, Pork & Cracked Black Pepper, Lamb Rosemary & Garlic, Lamb Leek & Sage and Pork Onion & Ginger and one burger Cracked Black Pepper Burger. Our Home Cured Bacon also won Gold, using Easicure Sweet Dry Cure and our Steak & Ale Pie made with Top Taste Gold Gravy Mix received Gold. All in all a very satisfying day.
